Environmental control for rooftop waterproofing works
A specialist contractor was delivering structural waterproofing works on the roof of a newly constructed multi-storey car park for a major international e-commerce facility.
The application of waterproof coatings is highly sensitive to environmental conditions. Moisture, low temperatures, and inconsistent curing conditions can all compromise adhesion, finish quality, and long-term performance.
Working at rooftop level introduced additional exposure to wind and weather, making it difficult to maintain the controlled conditions required for a reliable installation.
The Njordair solution
A connected Constant Air enclosure over the active work zone
Three Njordair CA-8 modules were connected to form a single enclosure measuring 8m × 15m (26 ft × 49 ft), fully covering the active work zone.
The constant air system provided a stable structure capable of withstanding exposed rooftop conditions, while creating a sealed working environment that protected the coating process from rain, wind, and temperature fluctuations.
The system was delivered to site by trailer, with on-site support provided during setup to ensure rapid deployment and correct installation.
Once in place, the enclosure allowed the contractor to proceed with coating application under consistent, controlled conditions, independent of external weather.
The outcome
Reliable coating application in exposed rooftop conditions
The Fast Tent enabled reliable application of waterproof coatings in an otherwise exposed environment, reducing the risk of defects, delays, or rework.
By creating a controlled working space directly on the rooftop, the contractor avoided the complexity and cost associated with traditional temporary structures, while maintaining programme certainty.
