Temperature Control Construction USA

Temperature Control for Swimming Pool Construction | USA

Njordair rapidly deployable shelters were used to create a temperature-controlled working environment, enabling year-round swimming pool construction on Long Island, New York.

Winter conditions limiting pool construction productivity

Jason’s Pools, established in 2003, are a swimming pool and masonry contractor working throughout the Hampton Bays area of Long Island, New York, specialising in the design and construction of gunite and vinyl swimming pools.

In the North Eastern United States, freezing temperatures and wet conditions typically bring outdoor construction work to a halt for 2-3 months each winter. For Jason’s Pools, this created seasonal downtime and delayed project completion for clients wanting pools ready for spring.

Concrete works and specialist coatings require controlled conditions, making winter construction particularly challenging without protection.

Three connected modules enclosing the full pool footprint

Jason’s Pools had tried building frames and using tarps and sheeting for site protection, but these were time-consuming to build and offered limited environmental control. Njordair supplied three 16′ x 33′ (5m x 10m) Constant Air modules, creating a dry, temperature-controlled working area 48′ long x 33′ wide, large enough to contain the full pool footprint. The system was custom-built with colour and branding matched to Jason’s Pools’ corporate identity.

Multiple modules were connected to form a continuous enclosure large enough to contain the full pool footprint. This allowed all stages of construction, including concrete works and finishing processes, to be carried out within controlled conditions.

The system provided a significant improvement over temporary timber frames and sheeting, which were time-consuming to construct and offered limited environmental control.

Rapid deployment enabled the contractor to install the enclosure quickly and move between projects as required, supporting efficient winter operations.

Year-round pool construction with no off-season

The Njordair system enabled Jason’s Pools to work through the winter months with no off-season. Cold weather no longer delays project completion, while competitors wait for spring, Jason’s Pools maintains a head start on their workload.

The ability to take on additional winter projects, combined with a premium rate charged for winter work, means the tent pays for itself. Revenue at a time when the business would normally be idle creates a direct return on the investment.

By maintaining controlled conditions, the quality and reliability of construction processes were improved, while reducing delays caused by weather.

The ability to operate year-round also created additional revenue opportunities, allowing the contractor to take on more projects and apply premium pricing for winter works.

For contractors affected by seasonal shutdowns, Njordair systems provide a practical solution for maintaining productivity, improving scheduling, and increasing annual revenue.
