Dust control inside an operational pharmaceutical facility
Dutton Infrastructure required a reliable method of containing dust during modification works inside an operational pharmaceutical facility.
The works involved cutting openings into an existing concrete floor to allow for new machine foundations. This process generates significant dust and airborne particulates, which posed a major risk within a live, controlled environment where cleanliness and contamination control are critical.
Traditional methods of dust control, such as temporary screens or rigid enclosures, can be time-consuming to install, difficult to seal effectively, and impractical in confined internal spaces.
A compact sealed air containment zone
A Njordair SA-2 sealed air Fast Tent was deployed to create a fully enclosed, localised containment zone around the work area.
The compact 1m x 5m structure allowed the enclosure to be positioned precisely within the constrained indoor environment, isolating the cutting works without impacting surrounding operations.
Dust generated during the works was captured within the enclosure and extracted via ducting to the exterior of the building, maintaining clean conditions within the wider facility.
The sealed air design ensured a stable structure without the need for continuous airflow, making it particularly suitable for internal use where controlled environments must be maintained.
Controlled dust extraction without disrupting operations
The containment system allowed critical construction works to be completed without disrupting the operational pharmaceutical environment.
Dust was effectively controlled and removed at source, reducing contamination risk and maintaining compliance with site requirements.
The rapid deployment and compact footprint of the Njordair system provided a practical alternative to traditional containment methods, particularly in confined indoor spaces where speed, flexibility, and cleanliness are essential.
